Doing more of what you do best ...

It was a wonderful experience running KETE, but there was something missing. When I discovered by Top 5 CliftonStrengths* it became obvious what: My Developer was bored. One of the core beliefs of the Strengths movement is that we're at our best when we have the opportunity to do what we do best every day. Retailing in a sole-charge store can be a lonely business, especially through the Mapua winter. I needed more people around me!

So what's 'Developer*' all about? CliftonStrengths' definition is: "People exceptionally talented in the Developer theme recognize and cultivate the potential in others. They spot the signs of each small improvement and derive satisfaction from evidence of progress."

Developer is in the 'Relationship Building' domain ... people with dominant Relationship Building themes "have the ability to build strong relationships that can hold a team together and make the team greater than the sum of its parts". It's a powerful strength for managing, following, parenting, coaching, and generally encouraging people.

I love to invest myself in the growth, potential and progress of others. I see and appreciate their knowledge, skills, and talents. I look for opportunities to celebrate the unique contribution of the people around me, affirming and encouraging people to be their real and true selves, improve their performance, and achieve success. I provide a safe zone where people have permission to strive and fail and strive again.
